Leon Dalziel, Web Designerbaby-e is just me, Leon Dalziel, a web designer based on the West Coast of the South Island, in New Zealand. Because the internet is always changing, I don’t pretend to know it all. I combine usability philosophies with graphic design and search engine optimisation tricks, to produce websites that not only look good, but work well too. Trust me… I was in advertising. baby-e was born in August 1999, for freelance web design moonlighting, and since then it has become a full-time business. I spent 10 years in the advertising and design industry and lived to tell about it. Sadly, gone are my days of long lunches and latte’s in Sydney and New Zealand advertising agencies. Now it’s short blacks and Molenberg toast as I hunch over my iMacs in the wee hours of the morning. On the larger jobs, I have cluster partnerships with other specialist internet companies and individuals, letting me concentrate on the design and project management, and they on the coding and scripting. As well as a brief stint working a dairy on school nights, I’ve done direct marketing, mainstream and recruitment advertising agencies in various design, management and information technology roles. The Friday nights were great, but gave my liver hell. One day I’ll frame my Certificate in Business Computing (NZ) and Certificate in Direct Marketing (ADMA), and hang them on the toilet wall. Till then, you’ll have to take my word for it. I’m strongly customer focused and you’ll find me regularly bending over backwards (or forwards) for my clients. When I’m not busy working on the internoodles, I try and find time to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle the West Coast has to offer – whitebaiting, hunting, tramping, fly fishing, SCUBA and skin diving, rock climbing, snowboarding, kickboxing, surfing and waveskiing, swatting sandflies and going on Expeditions. Because I can’t be everywhere at once (especially during whitebait season), baby-e has other people on the ground to take care of the necessary. You may hear of them from time to time, when I say “we”. Andy McCubbin – Chief Executive President of Development Things Andy has been in the IT industry since 2000, after graduating from NMIT with a Bachelor of Information Technology. He has considerable experience in website development, deployment and maintenance. He brings a strong grounding in many different areas of IT. Andy is also a man of many talents. Katrina Lambert – Bounce Marketing Katrina graduated with a business degree and began a career in the web industry in 1996. Working as Marketing Manager for Netbyte Internet Ltd, she was responsible for online promotional activity, and worked alongside the Managing Director in business growth and development. Katrina re-located to Oxford, England, and as Direct Marketing and Web Manager for The Pier (Retail) Ltd, had huge success driving the company’s Direct Marketing and E-Commerce strategy. Returning to New Zealand in late 2005, she has since started her own online marketing and consulting business in Nelson, and has a growing number of clients in the region. |
